My name is Chris Williams and I am the owner of CFT Fitness here in Tracy, CA.
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you a little background about me and my purpose as it pertains to owning and guiding CFT Fitness.
I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life.
At first, it was a cause and effect of quitting smoking. I used food to combat nicotine cravings. Over time, the dietary impulses I built during my time quitting smoking just became every day habits. When you are in a steady state of overeating and not exercising the weight starts to pile on pretty fast.
This led me to finally breaking down and finding a solution in 2013. I found CFT (then known as CrossFit Tracy) and began what has been a passion of mine ever since. I fell in love with the community, the style of fitness, and the results that you could achieve with CrossFit. In the first 3 year of joining CFT I managed to lose about 100 pounds! I loved everything about CFT. I loved it so much that in June 2016 I purchased the company and became the sole owner.
By 2022 the stress of the Pandemic, rebuilding the gym’s membership, and hiring new staff to help with the growth had caused me to gain much of my weight back. I was overweight, stressed out, damn near completely inactive, and struggling to find any motivation. This led me to reach out and hire coaches to get my life back on track. I realized more than anything that I needed coaches that could provide me with guidance, accountability, and wisdom as I fought to get back to a healthy weight.
I hired Coach Shannon, our in-house nutrition coach, to work with me on my diet and I hired a couple other coaches to help me with my personal and business goals. All in all I lost 80 pounds in 10 months and felt reborn again. I was yet again reminded of the power of having a coach to achieve my goals.
In 2023 I fell ill with a neurological condition called Guillain-Barre Syndrome which landed me in the hospital for 7 days and ultimately was cured through Immunoglobin Therapy. It still took almost a month to get fully cleared before I could get back into the gym and go full speed again. Fortunately for me, I had just spent the past 18 months working on myself and hitting the gym consistently so I wasn’t behind the 8-Ball the way I would have been had I been inactive in the time prior to my diagnosis.
If there is one purpose in this world I have come to accept as mine, it is to share the importance and value of consistent coach-led fitness and nutrition to beat negative habits like poor diet, inactivity, low self-esteem, and more. If there was one thing you could do today to reverse the negative effects of those learned behaviors, it would be to hire a coach or join a gym like CFT Fitness where we have experience accomplishing what you desire to achieve. We can design a program that is built specifically to your needs and be there every step of the way.
The best day to start was yesterday. The next best day to start is today.
I look forward to seeing you at CFT soon!
